About

Welcome to Nottingham University Athletics Club!

We are a competitive and friendly club open to athletes of all abilities, from the casual jogger trying to get fit, to international athletes. We compete in a wide range of events, including track & field (both indoor and outdoor), cross country and road running. We participate in the major BUCS championships each year, as well as many other events such as the University relay series, the North Midlands cross country league and the Intercounties / Nationals XC meets. Our Men’s A team have consistently finished in the top 10 in the BUCS cross-country championships in the past years, and in 2019 we achieved 1st place in the Women’s 60m and the Women’s 200m at the BUCS Indoors championships, and 1st place in the Women’s hammer throw and the Men’s B 5000m final at the BUCS Outdoors championships.

We encourage participation and are enthusiastic for anyone to get involved! We have a Couch to 5k program held during each semester, and we also hold social group runs twice a week for people to pop along too, which are open to all abilities. We will also as a club, descend onto a local parkrun from time to time! We have a strong social scene, because we don’t just race hard, we party hard! Fortnightly socials during term time keep team spirits high, with highlights including our Christmas Meal and our infamous Running bar crawl. All details for socials will be uploaded to the Facebook group, which is linked below. We have also been known to train and relax abroad during the Easter holidays…

We hold a relay race every year on campus in memory of former student and athlete Ed Prickett who was tragically killed in 2005. It’s become a very popular event, with the 4 x 2.37 mile relay on a challenging and picturesque road course attracting many clubs and universities from surrounding counties.
